I Want to Attend a Service Academy Because:

There are many reasons. My grandfather was a Lt JG during WW2 and my father graduated from Annapolis in 1969. I've always wanted to serve my country, and I think this is the best way. I also have a strong will to serve. More deep down, I would like to be a Midshipman in the Naval Academy because I see the Midshipmen at football games or walking around the Yard and I say to myself, "Wow, that guy/girl is really squared away. He/She really knows what their doing. I would like to be just like that." I know it sounds pretty cliché but I would like a sense of honor.

About Me:

Well, I'm Dave. I run cross country in the fall and do track in the winter and spring. I am the middle of a set of triplets. Being a triplet, it has been a very competitive life.

Third Post - 1/13/07

Well...haven't posted in awhile but I thought I should. I had an indoor track meet yesterday and while my father was driving us home he asked me a surprising question. You see my father and I are very soft-spoken and we rarely have intimate conversations. Out of the blue he says, "So, why do you want to go to the Naval Academy?" and I sort of froze up. 2nd Post- 9/7(almost 8)/07

Today was a laid back kinda day. School was fine. I got a little homework. No big deal. I've found myself being careful of who I mention to that I wish to go to Annapolis. I don't want to strike up any interest in Annapolis from people in my class in school. I just don't want the extra competition. Plus, I don't want to start some stupid rivalry or something. I don't know, its just something I thought about.

First Post - 9/5/07

Well, I thought I might as well get around to posting on my blog. This website is really great. I am glad to see that there are other people like me who want to go to the service academies and I am also happy to meet some of my fellow 2014 hopefuls. Good luck to all of you!

Jeez, It would be great to just know if I am going to get in right now. It will be a giant relief or dissapointment when I get in or if i don't. The whole application process scares the crap out of me, though. I

I talked to my congressman's helper lady that deals with nominations but she is going to refer me to one of her co workers, so it's almost as though she doesnt know either!

So, all I can say is to write to or email your congressman. When i did this, he gave me the name of the lady i mentioned above. She has been semi helpful. As for Blue and Gold officers, I havent contacted mine yet. I think I am a little behind because I only started wanting to be in an academy at the beginning of this year.

If you get any more information, please let me know as well. I hope I helped a little.
