Beast was great! Made a lot of friends and had a lot of fun at the same time! If you need any advice or help, feel free to ask.
I'm really sorry to hear that, but just remember at this point in time to take care of yourself. Injuries suck and just be sure not to aggrivate it. I pulled the muscles from my shoulder blade across my stomach my sophomore year in golf from overworking it. On top of that I played at regionals and on the 9th hole before we started our second round my pain pills ran out. It was bad. You'll be fine with all the time you have, just take care of yourself. You'll be fine in time and then you can kick some butt on the varsity team. :p
Ugh, I'm not big on the whole varsity thing beacuase of how big my school is and it's hard to get on teams. Right now though I'm the captain of Varsity Golf at my school and made it to state last year so I have that going for me. Otherwise I focus on the sports that my ROTC unit offers. I'm the commander of our Varsity Color Guard and am working out with the Adventure team while participating in the Drill teams. We made it to West Coast Nationals last year so I'm hoping we repeat this year and win a trophey. Otherwise, besides those I don't do many sports. ROTC takes up a lot of time because of how much time it requires because of my position and because of the teams I do participate in. What about you? You in any varsity sports?
Yeah I met Dave at the Summer Sessions. It was fun and he was a great guy. But for starting a JROTC unit, it's not mainly a kid getting it started it involves the district starting it and applying to get the unit started. Cadet Command has to approve the unit and there's a lot that goes into it. If you're really intersted in getting a unit started in your hometown, start a petition with the district and maybe get some signatures of fellow students. Unfortunately, the process will likely take a few years.
well, i just started both of them. but i'm looking forward to getting into it, and really knowing where i perform best. i think it's great that you know what you want this early-- you have plenty of time to fill up your resume and make the most of it. good luck!
First Beast was a bit tough, but my cadre were fairly cool. So long as we busted our butts they didn't beat us much. Second Beast, our cadre killed us. We went on rifle runs every day and never got any time to just take a deep breath and relax. I only lost 5lbs, but one guy I know lost as much as 12 in a week. Life is hell, but if the other 4 degrees in your flight/squadron are any good, it can have some fun moments. Dont encourage the idiots, they just get worse. When they fuckup and dont show that they care, make them care.So other than beatings and getting yelled at, it wasn't that bad. No one from my flight dropped out except for the one guy who never even showed up.
its cool though because my mom would be cool with me bringing people over so that they can have a home away from home and can come over on short holidays or even long ones if they can't make it home
i really don't have a solid reason which is kind of childish for me to say I wouldn't because i'm applying as a back up because i really want to serve my country as an officer. but for some reason the army seems like it would come more naturally and the distance is kind of a play for me because i only live 45 minutes away from usma
