Networking America's Service Academy Candidates

When you apply to USAFA, must you give your class size? I'm thrid in my class, but there are only about thirty-eight of us. I didn't know if that would hinder my chances of getting into the Academy.

Yes. It won't necessarily hurt you, but it will let them know more about you. 3rd of 38 is different than third of 600.

You're still in good standing as far as getting into the academy. Usually they pick people that are in the top 10%. However, there is an exception to every rule. I was in the top 15% of my high school.

They also look into how difficult your high school is. I found out my high school is one of the hardest to graduate from in Florida. Our requirements to graduate from our high school greatly surpass the minimum requirements set by the state of Florida. Therefore, even though I was 60 of about 410, I still received an appointment as well as 4 other people from my school. There are 5 kids from my school who received appointments. 3 guys and 1 girl for the Air Force Academy and 1 guy for the Naval Academy.

wow that is impressive. I'm pretty sure no one else in my school even knows what a service academy is.

A little late to reply, but my current roommate was in the same situation you're in and she's here. dont' let the class size issue worry you, you'll be fine if everything else is up to par. Work on your test scores and get involed and you'll be fine
