What are the differences between all the military academies? How do you know which one is right for you? Which is the hardest and easiest?

LoA and Triple Q

I recently received a LoA from USMA admissions and I am academically, physically, and medically qualified. Does this give me any advantage in the nomination process? Do Members of Congress or Senators usually nominate people with an LoA? Any comments are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

How do my chances look

I have been trying very hard to get into West Point and I just wanted some other peoples opinions about how my chances look. I am a straight A student, I have a 4.58 GPA, I have never missed a day of school, I am in the top 15 in my class which is like the top 4%, I already took AP calculus and I am taking 5 other AP classes next year, I have lettered in baseball, I work out everyday, I am very active in Nation Honor Society and Key Club, I do a lot of work in the community with my church, I attended Boys' State, I have an 1860 on the SAT and a 28 composite score on the ACT. If I could get some opinions about how my chances look, or things that I could work on to improve my chances, I would greatly appreciate it.

does my USNA application look good?

I am a senior this year, in the process of applying to attend USNA (class of 2014). I am going to what would be my fourth high school. I simply move a lot because my family migrated here in the states when I was 14, and so we are trying to look for that perfect place to stay at for good. I know that taking AP classes would be good but moving so many times in high school have kept me from taking AP classes. Those classes required summer assignments and during my previous summers, I had no idea as to what school I would be going. So here are my stats/standing: 3.8 GPA - took rigorous courses that were available for my case (but none of which offered an augmented GPA) member of FUTURE BUSINESS LEADERS OF AMERICA (freshman), member of JV track team (sophomore), member of TUTORING CLUB and ACADEMIC DECATHLON (junior year) i volunteered in a public library, served as an altar server, worked as a soccer referee, and was a member of Boy Scouts. my SAT and ACT scores (the ugly part) verbal 520 english22 math 570 math 25 writing 560 reading 21 composite 22 As I see it, my application have some ups and downs, but keep in mind that i was doing all those while trying to adjust in an environment that was always new to me, and while my parents where out of the county (but were still giving me support in many ways they could) thanks.

Navy OCS

I know this is the academy board, but I figured I'd at least try. I wanted to attend USNA, but health reasons DQed me and my parents didn't want to delay my college. NROTC was also out of the question. Since then, circumstances have drastically changed, and I'm seriously (99.9%) considering OCS. I'm wondering if any one on here has any first hand knowledge or accounts of NOCS, or can maybe point me in the right direction Thanks!

USAFA Superintendent & Commandant - Flu Outbreak and Doolie Day Out

Please review these messages from the Academy regarding the Flu Outbreak and Doolie Day Out Cancellation and Activities Sponsor information was given out as such: If you have items that you would like to drop off for the class of 2013, especially pre-packaged items, you can drop them off in the circle in front of Arnold Hall from 7am-9:30am tomorrow. There will be an Academy representative to receive the items. If you have items such as cards, cellphones/chargers please place in a large envelope with Doolie’s name and Squadron. Unfortunately, you will not be able to see the Doolie that you were going to sponsor. Message from USAFA Superintendent As you may be aware, the Academy has confirmed that a number of cadets have been diagnosed with influenza like symptoms. These cadets have been separated from the rest of the cadet wing, are being treated and closely observed. At this point, some of the cases have been characterized as TYPE A, H1N1 Influenza. Our health officials are consulting with the CDC, the Air Force Surgeon General, and the El Paso County Public Health Department on matters of treatment and disease control. We are totally committed to providing your sons and daughters the best possible health care. Given the current situation, regrettably, we are modifying our plans for Doolie Day Out. In lieu of visiting our sponsor families, we will conduct a relaxing and fun mid-BCT break for the Class of 2013 on base. This measure will ensure the health and well-being of both our cadets and our community. We appreciate your understanding and continued support of the Academy. ALL BASICS WILL HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO CALL HOME ON SATURDAY Message from USAFA Commandant Recognizing the long tradition of Doolie Day Out, we did not come to this decision lightly; however, civic responsibility dictates the need to limit exposure and potential spread to our local community. The purpose and intent of Doolie Day Out has been to give our basics a short reprieve from training with an opportunity to contact family and friends, eat some of the foods they may be craving, and simply relax. Typically the program gives them approximately eight hours away from the Academy. This year for Doolie Day Out, all training for the class of 2013 will be suspended at 8 pm Friday evening with the basic cadets being put “at rest” through Saturday at 5 pm. They will also be allowed to sleep in an extra three hours on Saturday morning. Following, breakfast, the class of 2013 will go over to Arnold Hall where the following activities will take place: •Movies will be played all day in the auditorium •Cell phones will be returned to those that brought them •A phone bank will be installed for those basic cadets that don’t have a cell phone •Video games in “The Alley” in Arnold Hall •Lunch will consist of hamburgers, hot dogs, an ice cream bar, and any desserts that sponsor families deliver. •Pizza will be provided in the afternoon. •The basics will also have an opportunity to sleep if that is their desire

Who won Field Day?

I guess this was a big event for the Cadets, so it would be great to hear some news about it.
