Junior year!

Junior year will start in less than two weeks, and in some ways i'm excited, others i'm nervous. Cross country practice started a few weeks ago, and since this is the first time i've ever participated in sports, i was thrilled with how it turned out. I'm not very fast, but i do try my hardest. I hope that varsity isnt a requirement for the academies, because that is very doubtful as of right now...maybe next year. :) My first meet will be the weekend after next- i'm nervous about that. Aside f… Continue

The Comm. and Hazing

Seems the new Comm. has done away with hazing altogether. Talked to my Yuk yesterday and she is not happy. She says that this batch of plebes are getting away with way too much and their lack of discipline is appalling. Anyone else heard anything.

SLS Questions

Ok Im wondering what you do to apply to get into this. All USMA.edu says is that you can apply mid december to april during you junior year. But what do you send in to apply? Where do you send it? ANd above all What is that you send? thanks for any answers

Naval Academy - CC

AP or community college courses?

At my school, I have the choice to take advanced courses for community college credit or AP credit. Is either one preferable over the other in regards to getting into the USNA?

Back up plans??

Ok, the application is in, the packets for the Congressman and 2 Senators will be in the mail within the week. We expect to spend the winter waiting to hear.........Here's my question: I have been told that even if a coveted LOA arrives in the mailbox, my son should go ahead and apply to the traditional university that is his "back up plan," just in case something medical should happen? We plan to apply for scholarships, etc for the "traditional university." I had thought that once we heard that he was accepted to USNA, we could abort the other application/scholarship process, but further thinking suggests that we should move forward JUST IN CASE. Would you go so far as to accept scholarships even once son is accepted to USNA (but prior to I-Day) just in case something happens? (I am praying this will be our problem!) Any thoughts? I have enjoyed reading many wise posts from some of you!

Air Force Academy - CC

What's free fall really like?

Totally off the subjects of CC'ers...but perhaps not to AFA Cadets or their friends and family..but.... I may take the plunge and was wondering what does FREE FALL really feel like? I mean what do you feel in that immediate first several seconds as you exit the plane? The program I'm considering is a tandem at 13,000 with about 60 seconds of initial free fall before the chute is deployed. Thanks.

A Problem?

So I have decent grades (33 ACT + 4.1 GPA plus 100's of hours community service) and want to apply to the Air Force Academy.. however, there is one problem. I have asthma. But it's acute and not exercise induced, in fact, I don't even show symptoms of it anymore, just.. it's on my medical history... Does this automatically without a doubt disqualify me from any hope of getting into the AF academy? Thanks, Jason
